OUTCOME
Courtesy Car Tracker
07gn Autobody was running their courtesy car program on memory and manual notes. Two cars had gone missing, no record of who had them, no way to follow up. With a small team managing a busy shop floor, tracking loans was falling through the cracks daily.
Boris needed a system his team could actually use, not something that required sitting at a desktop or learning new software. It had to be fast, simple, and fit into a workday that doesn't slow down.
I started by recording notes on how the shop currently handled courtesy cars what information they collected, where it broke down, and what a typical handoff looked like. From there I researched standard courtesy car tracking requirements.
The key constraint was the team. Boris' staff are hands-on people, not heavy technology users. The system had to be learnable and fast enough to use between jobs. I designed for tablet first, so the system could live on a shared device on the shop floor, accessible without switching between personal phones or walking to a desktop.
Five screens, each with one job — track what's out, record every handoff, and flag damage before it becomes a dispute. Built for a team that moves fast and doesn't have time to learn new software.

The system was designed tablet-first so the team could use one shared device anywhere on the floor without being tied to a desktop. The dark theme matched 07gn's existing brand, making the tool feel familiar rather than foreign, because familiarity drives adoption. Navigation was stripped to three tasks: check out, check in, look up records. And instead of written damage notes, an interactive tappable diagram creates a timestamped visual record on every handoff, turning a common liability into a system.
This system not only helps them track courtesy cars easily but it helps them keep an order within their current one, saving time on check-ins and being efficient on the smallest tasks in the shop.
